Inspiring and Empowering Middle School Girls

Kirsten Miller

Kirsten understands the importance of making young women feel confident and empowered. She works in a field where women are underrepresented, not because of their abilities but because of the impact social pressure can have on the lives of young women. She feels that supporting young women and providing them with tools to persevere through life’s inevitable obstacles will allow them to reach their full potential.

Kirsten was introduced to 4GIRLS in 2014 when she volunteered as a Jr. Mentor at the Long Beach workshop. She was deeply inspired by the positive environment and powerful experience that can be created when women decide to support each other and the community’s youth. She volunteered at the workshop for five years as a mentor, and every year she was amazed by the experience of watching the girls at her table become more expressive and comfortable with themselves over the course of the weekend.

Kirsten graduated from CSULB in 2018 with a B.S. in Applied Mathematics and a B.A. in Mathematical Economics. She is currently working toward an M.S. in Applied Statistics. Upon the completion of her degree, she will start her career as a Data Scientist in the aerospace industry.
